Latest Minis

Hello Everyone! I'm excited that in my last couple of art days, I've completed two Mini Albums...I love doing minis because I get a great sense of accomplishment at the end of it all. I keep my minis really simple and repetitive - they're small enough that the ALBUM is what I consider the art piece, in addition to each individual page...different from a layout entirely!

Each of these books took me quite a while...a number of hours for sure. But, I'm so glad to have them :) Minis are fabulous for carrying around and traveling with to show current pics and events.

This mini album called "Be Our Guest" is our guest book hanging in the guest room. It has tags I made with my cricuit to record the dates that certain guests stayed in our home - and then we can also write notes about what we did while we were together.

I tied our UHaul key to the front - a tangible moving memory!

Guests can record their experiences if they want too :)

There's lots of space for pictures...I need to back-log a number of visits that have happened already! I don't want to forget the times and memories with the first people who stayed in our new home with us :)

There are, OF COURSE, some transparencies thrown in too! There are tons of pockets for extra pictures or notes from visits.

I used a grey and yellow colour scheme to match the guest room decor.

This next album was a PRECIOUS GIFT from my friend Joanne. She made it for Evalie before she was even born and mailed it to me in ontario! The first page was complete, and the rest of the 8X8 album was awaiting the many pictures we would have of our little one. When we had our last photo shoot with Red Wagon Photography here in London, the prominent PINK in the pictures reminded me of this album and I knew that they'd be perfect in there!

VERY COOL felt fabric pink album...love the stitched flowers (by Making Memories)

(above) This is Joanne's heartfelt note to Evalie before she was even born! SO SWEET!

The layouts are basically all the same...more or less. They're TWO PAGE layouts (I thought of each layout at 8"X16" and worked with the papers connected, then cut them later). They all use 4X6 photos, although I was VERY tempted to make enlargements, this worked better for being able to have ALL the photos in one album (as it is it's FULL!)

I put die cut patterned papers behind some of the pics to add a little pazazz - they're cut with my big shot using an exclusive Stampin Up die.

I found these clear Heidi Swapp tabs in my stash - they have words on them that are meant to be died; so I dragged them through an ink pad for the colour I wanted.

I used a lot of fun transparencies over different pictures, and was liberal with the Tim Holtz mini staples.

Dont' know if you can tell, but I punched out the colour pic with a heart punch then put it over the top of the black and white pic...a fun little way to make something pop.

Thank you Joanne for this wonderful album and thank you Lara from Red Wagon Photography!
